ZEN-OMICS
3AHealth is the Host organisation of a postdoctoral research project awarded to Dr. Chrystalla Iosif who serves as the Postdoctoral Researcher and Project Coordinator, leading the project ZEN-OMICS: Multi-Omics Guided Personalized Drug Repurposing in Triple-Negative Breast Cancer using a Patient-Derived Zebrafish Xenograft Platform (POST-DOC/0925 – Enterprises/0040) in collaboration with academic and clinical partners with expertise in breast cancer research, zebrafish models, and bioinformatics.

Publishable Summary: ZEN-OMICS addresses one of the most pressing challenges in precision oncology: the identification of effective, patient-specific therapeutic strategies for Triple-Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC), an aggressive breast cancer subtype characterized by poor clinical outcomes, high metastatic potential, and limited targeted treatment options. The project combines transcriptomic and proteomic analyses with advanced bioinformatics, pathway-level investigation, and computational drug repurposing approaches to identify dysregulated molecular mechanisms driving disease progression and treatment resistance. Building upon these molecular insights, ZEN-OMICS employs patient-derived zebrafish xenograft models as a rapid and cost-effective in vivo platform for functional validation of candidate therapeutic compounds. Through the integration of multi-omics data, computational analyses, and functional in vivo testing, the project aims to establish a translational framework capable of supporting personalised treatment strategies and accelerating the development of innovative therapeutic approaches for breast cancer.
Duration: 09/2026 – 08/2028
The project POST-DOC/0925 – Enterprises/0040 is implemented under the programme of social cohesion “THALIA 2021-2027” co-funded by the European Union, through Research and Innovation Foundation.
